The new Tesla Cybertruck has triggered lots of media ridicule. Time will tell whether it is just a visceral response to unconventional design, real blunder or just Tesla haters hating.
But before we get to that…CEO Elon Musk said Sunday evening that Cybertruck preorders hit 200,000, an update from an earlier tweet on Saturday when he said the number was 146,000.
One of the more stinging Cybertruck comparisons has been to the much-maligned Pontiac Aztec.
The Detroit Bureau said the following:
But what can one say about the Tesla Cybertruck…That it may be the single worst automotive design since the Pontiac Aztek?
That it looks like a thing out of a bad 1980s sci-fi movie?…
That it could’ve been the “Homer-mobile,” the horribly mistaken design sketched out by patriarch Homer in the long-running TV series, the Simpsons?
How much is the Tesla Cybertruck?
Tesla said it will display 3 variants of the Tesla cybertrack. The cheapest version, a single motor, and rear-wheel-drive model will cost about $39,900, have a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and more than 250 miles of range
